Thousands of athletes from 23 Pacific nations were officially welcomed in Port Vila over the weekend as Vanuatu prepares to launch the Pacific Mini Games tonight.
Pacific sports ministers and up to 1700 athletes were formally welcomed by traditional high chiefs and community elders.
Pacific Mini Games CEO Clint Flood says tonight's opening and coverage for most of the 14 sports will be live-streamed throughout the Pacific thanks to Pasifika TV Broadcasting.
"Anybody across the Pacific is able to access, free of charge, the games," he says. "The opening ceremony has got about 1500 performers and a two-hour show... There's lots of music, it'll be a spectacular show."
Pasifika Broadcasting is an Auckland-based television service that provides free-to-air TV coverage to the Pacific and is funded through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
