Jenny Salesa's family was there to share the historic moment for the first ever Tongan-born Cabinet Minister.
Salesa's husband, Dr. Damon Salesa, says it's a very special day for Pacific people in New Zealand.
"We have for the first time ever four Pacific Ministers sworn in, to go with that, eight Māori Ministers," he says. "This is the most Polynesian Cabinet New Zealand has ever seen."

"It's a very moving thing where you see a Cabinet that really looks like the New Zealand that many of us know and a young and dynamic Prime Minister," says Dr. Salesa.
