A Pacific candidate for the Mana Party is giving his electorate another crack, in the hopes of capturing enough party votes to get party leader Hone Harawira back into Parliament.
James Papali'i is standing for the Mangere electorate, currently held by Labour MP Aupito William Sio.
He says they are confident Hone Harawira can win his seat in Te Tai Tokerau, back from Labour's Deputy Leader Kelvin Davis.
"If Te Tai Tokerau candidate-vote for Hone, they'll get Hone and Kelvin in so they can get two for the price of one," he says. "Kelvin doesn't need to win the candidate vote he'll automatically go into Parliament as the deputy."

Papali'i is a former Manukau City Councillor and is banking on capturing the party votes for his hometown of Mangere.
"I'm not interested in beating Su'a, who's doing a good job in Mangere," he says. "Because I'm number three on the list, if people party-vote Mana and candidate-vote Su'a, they can get two Pacific people in for Mangere."
